CodeTangler Professional

When developing applications based on a scripting language, you may need to protect the source code against misuse or modification. You can choose to encrypt the code, but this is only a temporary solution. CodeTangler Professional comes with a more reliable solution. It is capable of obfuscating PHP code, by replacing function, variable and class names with random letters and numbers and by removing the code's formatting and comments. The source code will remain functional, but no one will be able to interpret it.

The software works on Windows 2000 and any later edition, but you can use it on other operating systems as well, if they support Windows applications. It asks only for 2 MB of free disk space, a 233 MHz processor or better and at least 64 MB of RAM, which should not be a challenge for any modern day computer. The installation procedure is straightforward and you don't have to meet any special requirements.

CodeTangler Professional comes with a tabbed interface, on which you can target PHP project files, add or exclude functions, variables or classes and obfuscate them and view a series of statistics about your loaded files. The application allows you to browse through your local folders. Wen you locate one or more PHP files, you can target them by adding them to a list, on the same tab.

When everything is in order, you can start processing the files by clicking the appropriate option, on the program's toolbar. You can also choose to scan the files, obfuscate or encode them, when you start the procedure. The application is capable of obfuscating and encoding files instantly. The processed files are saved separately, in the source folder, so you don't have to worry about overwriting the originals.

You can decide how to modify the PHP code in the application's general settings panel. Depending on your settings, CodeTangler Professional will trim white spaces, strip line breaks and comments, replace keywords in string literals and more. You can also tick an option for extreme obfuscation, which can make your code unreadable. The software also allows you to choose between Inside-Out and Labyrinth PHP encoders.
